Privacy Policy
Diecast Garage · Last updated July 2026
Diecast Garage is a collection-cataloging app for die-cast model cars. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it. The short version: we collect only what the app needs to work, we don't sell your data, and you can leave with your data deleted.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and optional display name, provided directly or via Google/Apple sign-in. With Apple you may use a private relay address.
- Photos you take or upload: pictures of your die-cast cars, stored with our image host (Cloudinary) so they can appear in your garage.
- Collection data: the cars, tags, prices, notes and wishlist entries you add.
- Optional price contributions: sale prices you log can feed the anonymized community valuation pool; you can opt out in your account.
How photos are processed
When you scan a car, the photo is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to identify the casting. Photos are processed for identification and research; we do not use your photos for advertising. A photo of a casting that has no catalog image yet may become that casting's shared catalog thumbnail, visible to other collectors.
What other users can see
Your garage is private by default. If you mark a car as for sale or open to trade, that listing (car, price, your display name) appears in the community market. Anonymized sale prices contribute to shared valuations.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your personal data.
- We don't run third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
- We don't read your photos for anything except identifying your cars.
Service providers
We rely on a small set of processors to run the app: Railway (hosting and database), Cloudinary (image storage), Anthropic (AI identification and research), Google/Apple (optional sign-in), Resend (transactional email such as password resets, which receives your email address), and Expo (push notification delivery, which receives your device token and notification content, including short previews of marketplace messages). Each receives only what's needed for its function.
Data retention & deletion
Your data is kept while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account from inside the app (Garage → Settings → Delete account); deletion takes effect immediately and removes your collection, photos, listings, offers, messages, deals and Fuel balance. You can also contact us at the address below and we'll complete the deletion within 30 days.
A few things survive deletion, by design: anonymized valuation data (prices with no account link); catalog entries you contributed, with your name removed; a photo of yours that had become a casting's shared catalog image; photo evidence attached to an unresolved report, kept until a moderator resolves it; and a minimal audit record of the deletion itself (your email address and when it happened), kept for accountability.
Children
Diecast Garage is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes & contact
We'll update this page when the policy changes; material changes will be noted in the app. Questions or deletion requests: info@diecastgarage.ca.
