Built in the garage
Diecast Garage is a free die-cast car collection app for iPhone, Android and the web. Point your phone at a Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Mini GT, Tomica or any other die-cast car, loose or carded, and it identifies the casting, brand, series and colour, files it in your garage and shows what it's worth from what cars like it actually sold for.
Who makes it
Diecast Garage is made by DCG Labs Inc., an independent software company in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. It was founded by Bruno Ferrante, a marketer who builds his own tools and collects die-cast cars. He started Diecast Garage because he wanted it for his own shelves, and he still writes the code and answers the email. Bruno on LinkedIn.
How it works
Recognition is open-world AI rather than a fixed list, so it reads any brand and scale, fantasy castings included, from the car, its base or its card. Values come from sold eBay listings and the sales collectors log, filtered for outliers and dated; a car that hasn't sold enough to price gets an estimate from its current listings until real sales arrive. Your own number always wins, and values are a collector's guide, not an appraisal.
What we promise
- Free to start, and never a subscription.
